The past few days, I took a little time off of painting to head up to Virginia for a kind of vacation. The first stop was Blacksburg and Virginia Tech, where I got my B.S. in Biology and Minor in Theater Arts (so I could become an artist, of course!). Both have changed quite a bit since I was there. Blacksburg was a little brick town with some nice stores, but a bit run down in a quaint kind of way. I was completely horrified when they first began upgrading town, but now that they have more done, I kind of like the more urban feel it has. I guess the old B’burg was timely for the 80′s and 90′s, but now it looks like it fits in with the new millennium.
This is my favorite place in Blacksburg, Bollo’s Coffeeshop. Great self-serve coffee, a wonderful bakery, and atmosphere!
Some things certainly have not changed, like all the parked cars downtown with four, five, six parking tickets stuffed under bulging windshield wipers.
